The Doll's House Museum in Joseph Mohr House
Where the past meets the present – in Joseph Mohr House
Right in the middle of Hintersee you can find the Joseph Mohr House. Named after the writer of the carol "Silent Night, Holy Night", it houses not only the Doll's House Museum but also the seminar rooms of DAS Hintersee.
The Joseph Mohr House, which is an annexe of the DAS Hintersee, attracts many visitors every year. The house, which was built about 200 years ago, is named after the writer Joseph Mohr, who is known the whole world over for his carol "Silent Night, Holy Night". Joseph Mohr had a special relationship to the idyllic village of Hintersee in the Salzkammergut Region, because he served here as a vicar from 1827 to 1837.
An interesting piece of world history: Joseph Mohr – the person who wrote "Silent Night, Holy Night."
The original text of the carol "Silent Night, Holy Night" waswritten by Joseph Mohr in 1816 and was first composed to be accompanied by a guitar. The signature was first found in 1995. This enabled the history of the origin of the carol to be re-interpreted.
