A holiday in the mountains is even more enjoyable when shared with others. At DAS Hintersee, your dog is welcome to come along too.
There are a few rules and points to note regarding stays with dogs, to ensure that all guests feel comfortable in the hotel.
In October, your dog stays for free
Around Lake Hintersee, you’ll find plenty of walking and hiking trails for outings with your dog.
Your dog stays free of charge in October:
- Valid from 1 to 31 October 2026
- Valid for one dog per room throughout the stay
Enjoy some relaxing autumn days together and explore the countryside around Hintersee.
Important information for guests staying with their dog
To ensure that guests, whether accompanied by a dog or not, have a pleasant stay, the hotel has a few simple rules:
- Dogs must be kept on a lead in all public areas of the hotel.
- Please state that you will be bringing your dog when you make your booking, as a fee may apply depending on the room category.
- Dogs are permitted to accompany you into the restaurant and the Stüberl.
- Beds and sofas are not intended for dogs.
- In the event of excessive soiling, an additional final cleaning fee may be charged.
- On walking and hiking trails, the relevant signposted regulations and leash requirements apply.
- Dog waste bags must be carried on every walk.
- Cats and rabbits are not permitted at DAS Hintersee.
Holidays with your dog in a room, suite and chalet
At DAS Hintersee, you can bring your dog to selected rooms, suites and chalets.
Please let us know that you will be bringing your dog when you make your booking.
Depending on the accommodation, the following rates and services apply:
- Room or suite: €25.00 per dog per night, excluding meals, including a WAUZI BOX
- Dog food: Dog food is available to purchase, produced by the Hauer village butcher’s in Lochen
“Hinterseer Pfotenpower” – 100% beef and veal, no preservatives - Chalet: €35.00 per dog per night, excluding meals, including a fluffy dog blanket, a WAUZI BOX and one pack of “Hinterseer Pfotenpower”
- All dogs are welcome in our rooms with wooden floor
Holidays with your dog in Austria:
Extensive hiking & walking in Hintersee
Hintersee offers a wide range of walking routes and hiking trails for outings with your dog. Meadows, mountain views and lakes provide plenty of variety on both short walks and longer hikes.
A special recommendation for summer days is the Wasser-Zauber-Weg trail. The starting point of this easy loop hike is 15 minutes from the hotel, located at the central parking lot in Hintersee, and leads along the Tiefenbach stream past small waterfalls and natural pools. After about two hours and six kilometers, the hike ends back in town, where a refreshing swim in Lake Hintersee awaits you and your four-legged friend.
Please observe all posted signs regarding the handling of your four-legged friend and keep your dog on a leash where required. In particular, we kindly ask you to bring dog waste bags and clean up after your dog to help keep the paths clean and enjoyable for everyone.

At Lake Hintersee, dogs can enjoy a designated swimming area where they can cool off during the summer and enjoy their holiday just as much as you do. In winter, your four-legged companion will love exploring the sparkling snowy landscapes surrounding Hintersee. Whether you take relaxing walks through the winter scenery or simply enjoy the fresh mountain air together, your dog will feel right at home during your stay in the Salzburg region.
